An American watchmaking pioneer named Florentine Ariosto Jones founded the International Watch Company in Schaffhausen in 1868. He drew on the help of eminently qualified Swiss watchmakers, modern technology and hydropower from the nearby River Rhine to manufacture watch movements of the highest possible quality. Committing to this heritage, IWC’s mechanical timepieces are still handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail.
The Portugieser is one of the oldest and best-known watches from IWC. No other IWC watch family incorporates so many of the technical tours de force of haute horlogerie.
